Member Muses 1-5

Member Muses 1-5: a round-up

We're nothing without our community. Our members are a diverse and dynamic group, ranging from partners, executive directors and chairs of the board to analysts and trainees across fintechs, family offices, corporate finance, investment houses, law firms, specialist M&A advisers and more.

Here's a little reminder of our first five member muses and some of the insights they have shared into their careers and the M&A industry.

Elizabeth B., Director M&A Transaction Solutions, Aon

What’s one piece of advice you wish you had at the start of your career?

M&A is a people business. Execution excellence is paramount but do not forget the importance of managing your personal network, both internally and externally, and, when assessing capacity for work, to factor in time to build relationships.

🎯 Diane Blaxland, Operating Partner to PE scale-ups

What do you love most about what you do?

Seeing my clients people rapidly take charge of their career - with strategic clarity, great tactics, and measurable results.

Katharina Dalka, CEO of StellarOne Ltd.

What’s your biggest win you’d like to share?

I founded my business alone with 40k on my account and no back up, now I run a thriving enterprise.

Victoria Welsh, Partner, UK Immigration, Laytons ETL

What do you love most about what you do?

The Variety. The Pace. The People. No day is ever the same with immigration practice; it is so heavily influenced by societal demands and the political response. It forces you to be aware of what is going on around you and to be self-aware. The speed and high turnover of immigration work suits me well. But mostly - it's the people. It is a very human practice, regardless of what kind of client, and that brings you into daily contact with very personal concerns.

Emma Blackley, Founder, EB Advisors

Why did you join March Women?

I love working with women. I think we are great at what we do - professional, hard-working, creative and supportive. There are not enough of us in the world of M&A and deal-making and this needs to change. Business will be better - and more fun - if it does. I see March Women as a pioneering - and fun - force towards this end.
