The Style Editor takeaways

“When good people make good money, good stuff happens”

Not quite the takeaway we were expecting from yesterday’s breakfast at The OMP Club with Samantha Harman aka The Style Editor.

You can tell when something resonates when the event overruns by nearly an hour…!

Following Samantha’s talk we had a very open (and Chatham House rules) discussion about how many of us have been judged on our clothes and had our appearances commented on.

Key takeaways included: 😎

  • The most important thing is how you dress for YOU when you’re alone. If you slob around in pjs and hoodies, it makes the transition to “grown-up/more professional” dressing all the harder 💁♀️
  • Dress with intention every day and invest in outfits which make you feel good on a day to day basis. Stop spending all your money on things for “special” occasions which sit in your wardrobe unworn all year 🤯
  • The mixed messages about how focusing on how we dress is frivolous but at the same time everyone has an opinion and judges us on this; hence the importance of “good” people taking this seriously and getting it right so they can more easily rise to the top and start creating change (a message very much aligned with ours).

Our last event of 2023 will be our Christmas drinks reception and dinner at Bankside Hotel on 7th December.

We shared a sneak preview of event planning for 2024 on here at the weekend, and we can’t wait to share more details with you as we go bigger and better.

We’d also like to say a special thank you to Samantha for donating a 1:1 style session to our Christmas charity raffle in support of The Helen Bamber Foundation.
